In this class, you will make a gorgeous matchbox art gallery that reflects your passions and tastes, using a variety of construction and mixed media techniques.
Please note that we will be altering a photo frame in this class, and you will need to bring one with you - bring an old one from home or visit Salvos, Vinnies, or thrift stores for cheap frames. The back board will need to be removable from the frame, so picture frames with fixed borders will not be suitable. A frame with some embossed detail also adds a nice touch to the final project.
PLEASE BRING:
A photo frame approx: 22cm x 28cm. glass removed (NB. Frame size can vary as the gallery can be customised to fit other sizes but it is a miniature project, so avoid a very large frame.)
12x12" scoring board, paper trimmer, bone folder, craft knife, paintbrushes, palette knife, messy mat, paper towels, baby wipes, heat tool, white craft glue (e.g. nuvo, art glitter, PVA), Quick dry adhesive, matte gel medium, dark or brown-coloured distress ink and oxide (e.g. vintage photo, ground espresso, scorched timber, walnut stain) + ink applicators, ruler, pen, pencil, awl, tweezers, craft sanding block or emery board, gloves if you don't like getting messy, basic craft kit.
OPTIONAL TO BRING:
Black gesso, Finnabair heavy body gel, metallic finishing wax, embossing ink dabber (e.g. Tim Holtz clear embossing ink dabber), crop-a-dile, any favourite images, photos or ephemera you would like to include in your piece (NB. you will be provided with an array of images, papers and ephem to pick from so you don't HAVE to bring your own).
