“Memory Collector” – shadowbox filled with treasures, stories and vintage charm
Do you love collecting meaningful treasures, found objects, and beautiful embellishments? Have you ever wondered how to bring them together into one cohesive piece that tells a story and captures a special memory?
In “Memory Collector”, we’ll combine my signature mixed-media techniques with the magic of storytelling to create a richly layered shadowbox collage full of depth, texture, and character. This project is the perfect opportunity to showcase favourite elements, found objects, and treasured details while learning how to build a balanced and visually striking composition.
Working step by step, we will focus on creating dimensional clusters, layering embellishments, and incorporating a variety of elements—including a metal tin and other unexpected treasures—to build a unique shadowbox filled with interesting details.
The beautiful, grungy background is inspired by Prima Marketing Decoupage Fiber Papers and becomes the perfect foundation for textures, vintage character, and eye-catching dimensional effects. We’ll also explore a selection of Finnabair favourites, including Effect Pastes, Art Alchemy Liquid Acrylic Paints, Sparks Paints, and Metallique Waxes, learning how to combine colour, highlights, and metallic accents to bring the composition to life.
There will be multiple colour options to choose from, allowing you to personalise your project and create a look that reflects your own style—whether you prefer something bold and dramatic or subtle, moody, and full of mystery.
This class is all about learning versatile techniques that can easily be transferred to many future mixed-media projects and it is suitable for all skill levels, from beginners to experienced artists.
